A lot of people have been asking me about ’2 step’ order forms with infusionsoft. Below you’ll find a simple video that explains how to do it! It’s all pre orderform processing so it’s before the One Click Up Sell Script comes into play. In this example the name and email of the prospect is asked for before they reach the order form as if it’s part of the ‘checkout’ process. I’m sure there is a reason that they opted to stop at name and email. Personally, I’m inclined to believe that most online consumers have been trained to go through a multiple step checkout processes and would not hesitate to provide their name, ‘shipping’ address and email before they hit the actual ‘order form’.

Remember it’s all about consumer perception and not our perception. We know about order forms and how it’s supposed to be a ‘one’ step process. They don’t. Further, the quality of the lead is much higher for those who won’t hesitate to fill in their ‘shipping’ address & it allows for some direct mail marketing which is more likely to push them over the hump than a set of emails….My Two Cents. Ryan, great tip… I had to figure this one out myself…

This is also called a “hot-list” page.

The question I have for anyone doing this out there:

When the web form is used, this creates a duplicate record in infusionsoft. This record is the one that gets tagged for having entered data in the first step of the sales sequence.

If the person completes a sale, the account with the matching credit card and address gets updated, which is usually the OTHER record in infusionsoft (NOT the one tagged on the hot-list.)

So now there are 2 records for the same person, and both have the same email address.

Now if you automate the email that gets sent to them asking “Hey, why didn’t you buy?” it doesn’t work unless you MERGE your duplicates before midnight that night – AND you set the interval for the email so that the email checks for the “I’m on the hotlist” tag the next day.

Otherwise, the two records will be separate, and the person who actually bought the program will also get an email asking them why they didn’t buy.

This is pretty darn complicated. If anyone has any questions about it,
    they can email me at

I’d LOVE to hear of a better way to set this up, if anyone has one.
